A man practicing a lethal skill and practicing it with kids will never be equal to another man who practiced the same skill with skilled opponents.

Have you ever heard:

‎The only way to get smarter is by playing a smarter opponent

—Fundamentals of Chess 1883

And this short line says more than what we need to learn maybe.

Students are usually afraid to compete or even practice with seniors or experienced people. Right enough, they should be afraid, but fear shouldn’t stop them

Courage is not the absence of fear, it’s the ability to keep moving despite having that feeling.

So if you wanna get better, practice and compete with better opponents. Don’t chose the junior ones just to satisfy your ego that you “won” apparently.

Chose to lose from a skilled person, it’s worth it.
